Thank you.
Seeing so many recipes, and polish culture is very exciting to me. I’ve been trying to learn more of my heritage. My mother is of a polish background. Her maiden last name was Safranski
So glad you’re here Robert! Hope you try some recipes and find some familiar flavors. Let me know how they turn out for you. Anna
I hope to try some also. There is a soup that my mother and grandmother both made a white soup with pork neckbones (supposedly use to be made with rabbit). It also has sugar, vinegar, onion, and egg in it. They called it “Polish sweet-sour soup”. I make it often for myself, but have no idea what it’s actually called.
Robert, I’ve not heard of sweet-sour soup… but it sounds like “żurek” or “white barszcz” both made with soured flour (rye or wheat).
I’m so glad a friend shared this on Facebook. My parents are both of Polish decent. Both sets of grandparents came from the “old country”. So I’m 100 %.
You sure are!! Welcome to the club! 😊❤️🇵🇱
Thank you for your recipes. My mom and grandma never wrote anything down so I am trying to recreate all my favorite childhood foods. Your site brings back good memories! Do you have any recipes using oxtails? My grandma made a wonderful soup from them that I can’t quite duplicate.
Hi Michelle. So glad you’re here! Happy to share with you my family recipes. My dad makes a mean oxtail soup, I’ll have to get the recipe. Stop by again and keep cooking. 🙂 Anna
How wonderful to be celebrating my Polish roots that stem from my mother and her parents. While a child my father ridiculed her for her being Polish. He was Czech. They are very similar. So I purpose to exalt my Polish heritage ’til I die! Thank you for illuminating the beauty and wealth of that nationality.
Welcome Carol! Please cook away and let me know what some of your favorites are! Smacznego! Anna
I just found this website via a post on Facebook and I am so glad that I did. I am polish and I cook many polish family recipes. I was so excited to see so many new ones to try here. I love this site!
Welcome Janet! Glad you’re here! Anna
